EU Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) & Industrial Impacts
The EU Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) is a climate-trade measure ensuring imported goods match the carbon pricing standards imposed on EU domestic industries, affecting iron, steel, cement, aluminium, fertilisers, electricity and hydrogen.
How embedded emissions are calculated
Exporters must quantify direct (Scope 1) and indirect (Scope 2 - electricity consumption) embedded emissions per tonne of product according to ISO 14064 and GHG Protocol guidelines.
Reporting schedule and verification
Quarterly reporting of embedded emissions is required during the transition phase prior to financial certificate purchasing. Accurate tracking avoids severe non-compliance penalties.
ClimateOS & CBAM Software
Our ClimateOS software automates facility fuel and electricity telemetry collection to produce CBAM-compliant quarterly reports and carbon reduction roadmaps.
